Is my 7 year old female cat simply "mothering" my new 4 1/2 month old kitten?

All cats that live together enjoy grooming each other. That's all this is. Grooming one another helps strengthen the bond between cats. All kittens raise their tails when approaching an adult cat. It's a greeting. If you watch you cats walk towards you,you'll notice they raise their tails then,too. Animals have scent glands in their ,and they sniff each other there to know who is who. But that's all they are doing,grooming each other.
